first 5k run outside of treadmill!!

intended to run a slow easy 3k today and not really worry about pacing, but fter the 3k mark (19mins) i felt like i could continue for a lot longer and decided to run for another 10mins! after 10 mins was over i realized it was so close to 5k that i just continued till then and it ended up being a 5k pr? not so sure how accurate the comparison is though because this is the first 5k i ran outside the treadmill, but still i do feel like my strength and endurance have improved since then!

[10th feb] 5k/41:30m (mix w walk & run on treadmil) --> [29th mar] 5k/31:27m (running outside)

the difference is so big.. 10 minutes so maybe my gps tracking is not the most accurate LOL. well nevermind i'll just compare my next '5k' with the same route as today's! the exact distance don't matter as long as i'm improving in the same route!

context for 10th feb: i've ran a few 5ks on the treadmill before already, but this day was the first time i tried to run fast and recover in the least amount of time, the next time i tried to beat this pr was 19th feb with 42:30min, then 23rd feb with 42:40min and then 24th with 47:30min. i learnt that a slow consistent pace without breaks normally outruns / finish at a faster time, than running fast and recovering and repeat.

just got new shoes! & 3km improvement

don't really know much about running shoes, but my dad got me one on discount (i don't think its an authentic one lol) but still i felt so light when running and the forward momentum is crazzzyy i didn't know shoes could make running this much more fun!!

total distance: 3.18km in 18:29m

3km/17:37m, an improvement from my last 3km/19m!!!

not sure how much the improvement was due to the shoes, the excitement from it, or that i just ran in a higher zone that i wanted.

introductory post!

just started running at the start of this year! i'm just taking it casually, but want to build a consistent habit to run 4-5 times a week. i plan to just post updates / mini milestones whenever. don't really have a training plan, though i do want to start changing up my runs soon! for the months of jan and feb, i used to run on the treadmill for an hour, 5-6.5km each time. but now am running with my brother outside at a shorter distance and shorter time and found that the easier difficulty fits me better for now. am just running 2.4 or 3km each time right now and slowly increasing the distance to 5km hopefully by the end of next month :D

our 2.4km improvement since we started:

[11th mar]: 2.41km/15:50m --> [20th mar]: 2.42km/13:32!
